The Sistersville Ferry, run by the town on Sistersville on the West Virginia side of the river, not only offers the only river crossing point within 10 miles upstream and 18 miles downstream, but also affords one of the few opportunities for the public to get on the river. Without your own boat, you pretty much cannot do so — a significant lack for understanding such an important body of water. So enjoy the ten minute crossing!
