Powhatan Point Park

Ohio, Belmont County, Powhatan Point

OHIO Belmont Powhatan Point
River access: none. Tree cover: somewhat covered. Impervious surface: none. Landscape design strategy: State Park style. Information about the Ohio River: little

On Captina Creek, which debuts into the Ohio, there is a wonderful-looking park, but unfortunately the research team is constrained by its rules of data collection to examine only parks actually on the Ohio. This one is pretty simple: a strip of land between a parking lot at the river containing a historical marker and a gazebo. There are a number of admonitory signs, but the park sign itself is missing, and the information kiosk  is empty. There’s no view of the Ohio — it’s blocked by brush. Bikers and kayakers would fare far better using the Captina Creek park instead.
